Saint James Catholic Community, St. Augustine, FL
Vision and Purpose Statement for a New Liturgical Year
Beginning First Sunday of Advent, December 3, 2017

Preamble: Commensurate with the commission and mandate given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, as interpreted and expounded by our diocesan Ordinary, the Most Rev. Steven J. Lopes, and in conjunction with prayerful congregational discernment deriving from the impulses of the Holy Spirit, we, the members of Saint James Church, hereby set forth our common Vision for our faith community.
We seek to increasingly become a welcoming community of faith, sacramental in our essential constitution and through our expressions of Graces received, representing the love and ministry of the risen Lord Jesus Christ via the Holy Spirit to a diverse and needy society, to the Glory of God the Father.
We see ourselves as fulfilling this call and commission by sharing the treasures of the long and precious spiritual Patrimony and tradition of the English Church and the abundant life it offers to all people, as articulated by the Apostolic Constitution, Anglicanorum Coetibus.
We intend thereby to serve our local community and the visitors to our Ancient City – as well as distant missions and holy works throughout the world – thereby living out our goal of becoming more and more a thriving family member of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter.
Postscript: Subsequent to the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord in January 2018, this community will prayerfully seek Ghostly Counsel to collaboratively develop a Mission Statement congruent with this vision, setting forth the specific manner in which we will become “living sacrifices” to fulfill this Vision.
+ Set forth this 12th day of November 2017, the twenty-second Sunday after Trinity, and a fortnight before the final Sunday of the current liturgical year, The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
